Dell introduces 24 inch Widescreen LCD for $1200

If you’ve been saving your pennies for a large LCD, your patience has been rewarded. Dell has introduced a 24 inch panel for $1200. Nineteen inch LCD panels have been dropping faster than an elevator with a cut cable. A quick search through online stores shows several for $400 or less. The larger 20 to 24 inch monitors are still just a touch dear. Hopefully, Dell’s killer $1200 price will signal a drop among all other widescreen manufacturers. Are you listening Apple, Sony, Samsung? {embed="video-games/dpadz-ads"}

Extremetech has a review on the new Dell Ultrasharp 2405fpw lcd panel. They give it mostly a thumbs up. Good color, a bit off on the blues and a 12ms to 16ms response time. Game friendly my friends. DVI, VGA, 4 USB hubs, component inputs, built in 6 in 1 card reader and PIP rounds out the features list. Pretty comprehensive even if the unit maintains the boring Dell aesthetic. It’s no surprise though, very typical of Dell’s philosophy; not pretty but functional and feature rich.

UPDATE:
Dell has recently dropped the price on this monitor to only $959.00!!!
That makes it about 50% less than comparable Apple and HP LCD models plus you get an extra 1 inch of display as a bonus. Dell has really dropped a bomb on the competition with this baby.

Here’s another review from PCMag. They give it an enthusiastic thumbs up.
