Gran Turismo 4 is out and so are the requisite game reviews

{dpadz-img}

gran turismo 4 review

{embed="video-games/dpadz-ads"}Gran Turismo 4 is finally on the store shelves and along with them are a bunch of reviews. The skinny is the details are amazing, the driving physics are even better than ever and the cars look great. Essentially, a much much better version of GT3, nothing truly revolutionary but the peak of the GT evolutionary scale for the PS2. Two major grievances from the past is still around, the annoying AI that seems to ignore your presence trucking along with lack of damage modelling. Of course the promised online mulitplayer is now missing.

Two main modes of GT4 are arcade which allows you to enter quick races and the Gran Turismo mode or career mode as other games call it, where you’ll earn points, participate in buying, selling, and upgrading your cars while racing around the world.

While controlling your car using the Dual Shocks are enjoyable I feel the immersiveness of a good driving wheel truly makes the game a much more absorbing driving experience. Something like the Logitech Force Pro I mentioned earlier that comes with a discount when you buy GT4 will let you feel every bump and gravel on the tracks. For those of you lucky enough to have a widescreen HTDT, GT4 includes 480p and 1080i support. With all the different adjustments, options and vehicle tweaks available as in previous GT’s the replay value is almost infinite so the $130 game plus wheel purchase doesn’t seem that outrageous.

Here are a bunch of reviews.

Scarface Gameplay Trailer is out, you cockaaroaches!!!

{dpadz-img}

image

A trailer for the upcoming Scarface license game is out. I had no idea how popular Scarface is until I popped into the local Virgin megastore during Christmas and saw all the Al Pacinoesque Scarface action figures on display. The clerks told me they couldn’t keep them in stock. Each one had unique blood splatters. Kewl.

It remains to be seen what Radical, right in Dpadz own backyard of Vancouver does with the license. Looks a little too much like GTA. It won’t be the first time they have copped the gameplay from a popular existing game. They got into trouble with Sega because their Simpsons game was just a bit too much like Crazy Taxi. Of course Sega didn’t come out with the lawsuit until after Vivendi sold a few million copies.

The CNN news clip says the game takes place after the end of the movie based on the premise that Tony Montana SURVIVED the shootout at the end of the movie. WTF! Oh well, Brian De Palma probably won’t object. Mr. over the top. Did anybody see Femme Fatale?
